A Bournemouth chicken restaurant was forced to close over the weekend, after a burglary happened during the early hours of Sunday the 22nd of January.
Chicken and Blues in Winton was targeted by thieves yesterday morning, who broke into the premises, stole the till and damaged the interior of the store.
The Wimborne Road store is one of three Chicken and Blues franchise shops within the Bournemouth area.
Joshua Simons who co-owns the company said: “Chicken & Blues’ Winton branch was the victim of a break in over this past weekend. It is thought the the robbery occurred early Sunday morning.”
As staff work to try and clean up the mess, the total cost of damage to the property, and how much was stolen is not yet known.
Fellow business owners are worried that the incident is not an isolated case.
Tastebuds Cafe owner Charlie Caferier said he believes that burglary is becoming a serious problem for the Bournemouth community.
“I think its more dangerous than years and years ago, I’ve been living in Winton for ten years. Five to six years ago, I never had a problem. Last year in the Spar shop there was a burglar who attacked the shop. It’s getting more dangerous.”
Speaking about the damage to the property, Mr Simons said: “Doors have been broken, CCTV and tills have been removed. The Deliveroo scanning technology has also been vandalised.”
The chicken shop was due to reopen today. However, due to the large scale of internal damage this has been postponed until Wednesday.
Ameer Kamel, franchisee of the Wimborne Road branch, assured customers neither restaurants at Ashley Cross or Boscombe had been affected and service will continue as normal.
